Marathon Training

While training for the Nike Women's Marathon, I developed injuries from a previous auto accident, not stretching and my inability to take a 'rest' day. I knew I needed help so went to my doctor who recommended Physical Therapy. That worked a little but as I continued to increase my mileage, my injuries got worse. I was to the point that I could barely walk after several long runs. I met Dr. Adam Mohr at Road Runner Sports.

Being a huge skeptic of Chiropractors, I told him my story to see what his diagnoses would be. After about 30 minutes, I decided I would let him help me. He was able to get me into his office the next day. (BTW, his office staff is amazing!) I was six weeks away from my marathon and was a mess. My left hip hurt, my lower back ached during runs and I was developing a shin splint.. Dr. Adam worked his magic - gave me exercises and stretches to do between sessions with him. He was very thorough and took his time answering all my millions of questions. The Friday before my marathon, he taped me with Kenisio tape. If nothing else, I was going to look really good! On Sunday, I started the marathon and didn't stop once, finishing in 4:21:37, twelve minutes faster than the first marathon I ran ten years prior. The first thing I did when I got back to my hotel room and while sitting in an ice bathtub, was text messaged Dr. Adam to let him know, because of him, I was able to finish the marathon! Granted it wasn't a pain free marathon but I finished and have already registered for the Newport, OR marathon on May 30th.

Between Dr. Adam and my trainer, I plan on running a pain free, 4:00:00 hour marathon to qualify for Boston! Dr Adam is the best, I highly recommend him!!!!!!!!!!!!
